The Mission of Andover Country Day School is to awaken and expand each and every child's sense of discovery-to fulfill the joys of understanding their environment, to take them as high as they can comfortably soar, and to have a happy, fun and safe experience at school.

Why Choose Andover Country Day School Preschool?

  • Our curriculum is thematic based and so every week at the Andover Country Day School there is a new theme to explore! For example, hibernation & winter fun, Valentines & post office, nutrition & grocery shopping week, goodbye to winter-beach week, etc.  This brings a feeling of adventure and excitement to the children each and every week.
  • The “open area” has centers of play and the children have the freedom to choose with what they want to play.  Staff and parent volunteers interact and oversee the children while they are playing.  We respect the value of play and recognize that play is a process through which real learning evolves.  The centers include, blocks, play dough, arts & crafts, sand & water tables, library & listening center, dress up & dramatic play. Learning experiences are designed to be developmentally appropriate for all students and meet the Massachusetts Department of Early Education’s Guidelines for Early Learning Experiences.
  • Andover Country Day School welcomes parent volunteers – Parents “love the concept of being involved with the school and enjoy playing with the children. Parents can be scheduled to help out in our “open area” throughout the school year. This allows the parents to truly know and experience their child's learning environment.
  • Throughout the school year, the children go outside to play.   We have a play yard that accommodates free play as well as organized activities such as, parachute, soccer, tag, Frisbee, etc.
  • ACDS is unique in that we provide a music and movement class each week to foster that inner musical piece inherent in childhood. Children learn many aspects of music development as well as large motor development through creative movement.
  • The staff actively participates in continuing education programs to keep themselves on the most current level of nurturing young children and guiding them to learn.
