ABOUT US
Background and History
The Andover Country Day School, Inc. (formerly known as St. Robert*s Country Day School) was founded in 1969 fulfilling the recognized need of a pre-school community. In 2004, the school changed it*s name and became incorporated.
Philosophy/Purpose
Programs provide vigorous activities balanced by quiet circle time, classroom setting activities, opportunities for group participation and individual creativity to promote growth. Children learn many skills and educationally stimulating ideas from the world around them. One of our most important objectives is to awaken and expand each and every child*s sense of discovery-to fulfill the joys of understanding their environment, to take them as high as they can comfortably soar, and to have a happy, fun and safe experience at school.
Curriculum
Consists of units and themes designed to emphasize cognitive, perceptual, motor and social skills to promote healthy personality development and to guide the child to greater social competence and self-fulfillment. Special events, some field trips, visits by guest speakers and community resource persons enhance the basic program. Music, creative movement, arts, crafts, science/nature study, cooking and other activities are all part of all class*s developmentally appropriate programs.
Staff
The preschool faculty have a genuine sincerity for the interest and well-being of each child. They are loving, nurturing, warm, caring, smart, helpful and enthusiastic to learn with young children. All of our teachers are certified through the Department of Early Education and Care and in CPR and First Aid. Most of our teaching staff have been employed for 10+ years and some have been parents before employees. |
